Imam Jafar (as) on Asceticism

Imam Jafar (as) said,

“He who practices asceticism in the world, God establishes wisdom in his heart, gives wisdom to his speech, opens his eyes to the pain and cures of the world, and takes him out of the world, in peace to the abode of peace.”

The Imam (as) explains further, “God placed all blessings and goodness in a house and ordained that the key for that house shall be asceticism in the world.”

He (as) then narrates a hadith of the Nabi (s) who said, “Man shall not find the sweetness of faith until he is no longer concerned about he who owns the wealth of the world.”
